Recently, Macau Malt Technology Co., Limited successfully completed registration on the Guangdong Data Intellectual Property Deposit and Registration Platform and was granted a data intellectual property registration certificate for its Container Simulation Environment Operating Parameter Dataset. This marks the first time a Hong Kong or Macao business entity has applied for and obtained data intellectual property registration in Guangdong, representing a major breakthrough for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in compliant right confirmation and cross-border circulation of data elements.
In September 2025, under the guidance of the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation and Zhuhai Administration for Market Regulation, Hengqin Intellectual Property Exchange Center took the initiative to assist Macau Malt Technology Co., Limited in sorting out its self-developed dataset — the Container Simulation Environment Operating Parameter Dataset built on its proprietary KunTu OS. During the registration process, a cross-border data IP service mechanism was established involving municipal and provincial market regulation authorities, the Guangdong Intellectual Property Protection Center, Hengqin Intellectual Property Exchange Center and Macau Malt Technology Co., Limited. Relevant parties coordinated to resolve multiple unprecedented hurdles confronting Hong Kong and Macao enterprises, including entity qualification verification, cross-border data compliance and account registration with no prior precedents. The dataset was verified to comply with regulatory requirements of both the Chinese mainland and Macao, leading to successful registration and certificate issuance.
This practice constitutes a landmark breakthrough for the data intellectual property system in cross-border scenarios, as well as a tangible achievement in deepening rule alignment and institutional integration across the Greater Bay Area. It will strongly drive data elements to become a new growth engine fueling high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
